Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect:

During our first couple of sessions we will work together to understand the problem you would like help with and then determine a course of action. Depending on what you want to work on, sessions will include a check in about how things have been going, and possibly some skills introduction to help provide new ways to deal with stressors. Or, we may focus more time and work on resolving past events or relationships. Where we go depends on what you need and what you want to work on, and my job is to provide support and evidence based practices to help you find the growth you are working toward.

  • How do I pay for therapy?

I accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards or HSA (health savings account) cards.

  • Do you take insurance?

I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, with the exception of Blue Values plans. I am also in network with United.

If you do not have one of these insurance plans I can provide what is called a “Superbill” each month that you can use to either get your HSA reimbursed, or to get reimbursed from your insurance.

  • How much is treatment if I don’t have insurance?

My full fee is $110. I can offer a sliding scale rate depending on your needs.

  • How often will we meet, and for how long?

Sessions are generally weekly or every other week. They last for 45-60 minutes.

  • Is what we talk about confidential?

Everything you share with me is confidential, as protected by law unless you are at imminent risk to yourself or others (ideation, plan and means). Also, if you are under age and are being harmed by an adult, or if you are an adult endangering the safety and well-being of minors I will report this behavior.

  • What happens if I have to cancel an appointment, or don’t show up?

Appointments need to be cancelled with at least 24 hours notice, otherwise I will charge a fee of $40. Because life happens, I do allow a one time free-of-charge emergency cancellation. Once you become a formal client, you will receive appointment reminders via email or text message 48 hours before your appointment.

  • Can we talk over the phone before making an appointment?

I offer a free 15 minute video consultation. This will give us a chance to see if we are a good clinical match, and answer additional questions you may have.
